SUMMARY  JOB  REQUIREMENTS  FOR

SCHEDULER-PLANNER – PROPERTY MANAGEMENT DEPT.

 

JOB TITLE:                          SCHEDULER-PLANNER 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Scheduler-Planner is responsible for the GIS analysis and development of maintenance plans and schedules for a wide range of system repair and vegetation management projects.  These duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

·         Develop multi-year system repair plans by identifying site locations from the COMET dataset for each Flood Control Watershed, using MS Project scheduling software or equivalent;

·         Perform basic GIS planning operations and special analysis to create/edit geographic data sets, cross utilities data from other databases (such as MS Access, COMET, etc.);

·         Review existing System Repair 5-year plan sites with COMET program data and identifies target sites for re-evaluation, pending budget increases, including cost tracking of System Repair Projects

·         Coordinates system repair plans with Property Managers and maintains a current listing of PTS project work orders showing status of system repair projects, including recently completed projects and future planned activities;

·         Develop multi-year vegetation plans using MS Project software by identifying prospect site locations and generating target site plans and schedules;

·         Coordinate tree planting plans, selective clearing plans, and vegetation efforts with Property Managers and Facility Maintenance personnel, using MS Project scheduling software or equivalent; and

·         Maintain records and up-to-date status on all projects generated by the Property Management Department.

 

KNOWLEDGE

·         Successful job applicant must have: 

Ø  High school diploma or equivalent;

Ø  Two or more years of related experience working with GIS programs;

Ø  Proficiency in MS Project, Geodatabase, COMET, MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.,

Ø  Proficiency in ESRI geographic software, such as ArcInfo (Desktop or Workstation) and ArcGIS 9x (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox);

Ø  Proficiency in data conversion and mapping projections;

Ø  Ability to maintain database information and create professional maps and exhibits; and

Ø  Moderate analytical ability in applying guidelines, policies and precedents and in adapting standard methods to fit facts and conditions. 

Ø  ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE and geodatabase knowledge is preferred. 

Ø  Applicant should be skilled in database management tools with Microsoft Access, SQL and ArcInfo data files.  Verifiable work experience in the application of these systems is preferred. 

·         Successful job applicant must also demonstrate ability to: 

Ø  Read and comprehend such written material as safety cautions, warnings, maps, traffic signs, operating instructions, etc.;

Ø  Write/record legible notes of activity and correctly complete required forms;

Ø  Solve simple mathematical problems that may be required in normal work situations; and

Ø  Effectively communicate with co-workers, general public, industry, and/or governmental representatives.
