GENERAL SUMMARY
- Operate large construction
equipment including, but not limited to track hoe, dozer, backhoe, or skid
steer in support of Maintenance Construction Group
- Perform work activities
including, but not limited to laying pipe, re-grading slopes and swales,
installing form work for installation of concrete interceptor structures,
mixing, placing and finishing concrete, building manholes and Type “E”
inlets, etc
- Install signs, markers, fences
or other devices to warn against trespassing and to protect district
properties
- Operate small power equipment
such as chain saws, air compressors, pumps, generators and various hand
tools
- Haul soil, materials and
equipment to and from the job site
- May be required to repair and
maintain various tools and equipment
- Other duties may be required as
the nature and scope of the job directs.
KNOWLEDGE
- High school graduate or
equivalent
- Position requires 4-6 years
experience operating construction equipment in similar work
- Must demonstrate knowledge of
construction methods and field experience
- Must be able to read and
comprehend such written material as safety cautions/warnings, maps,
traffic signs, operating instructions, and work procedures
- Write/record legible notes of activity
and correctly complete required forms
- Solve simple mathematical
problems that may be required in normal work situations
- Effectively communicate with
coworkers, general public, industry and/or governmental representatives
LICENSE
Valid
Class “B” Texas Operator Driver’s License
PHYSICAL EXERTION
- Frequently walking on very
rough and uneven surfaces or ground such as sloping terrain, plowed or
furrowed areas or construction sites
- Frequently driving a vehicle
with automatic controls
- Frequently operating motorized
construction/agricultural machinery
- Frequently operate/use small
hand and power tools/equipment
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE
- Routine outdoor exposure to
significant levels of heat, cold, moisture, air pollution, nature’s dust,
mists, vapors, fumes, and other pollutants
- Routine exposure to petroleum
products including, but not limited to, oil, gasoline, grease, diesel,
other fuels and lubricants
- Routine exposure to toxic
plants such as poison ivy, poison oak, and other vegetation that may
contain/emit allergens or other pollen compounds
- Routine exposure to vibration
and/or noise in excess of 85 decibels
- Routine exposure to vegetation
retardants, herbicides and/or fertilizers
- Routine exposure to wasps, bees
and other flying/walking insects, as well as aquatic bacteria, viruses,
and other micro-organisms
- May be exposed to fluids and
chemicals used for photographic or photocopier development or reproduction
and in cleaning offices and work areas
